Metadata Remover

Strip hidden metadata from PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF images, and from MP4, WebM, and MOV videos. Nothing leaves your browser: every file is read, inspected, and rewritten on your own device, and Bonjourn never receives it.

Photos

PNG, JPEG, and WebP files are decoded and re-encoded, which drops EXIF, XMP, IPTC, ICC, and text chunks.

Animated GIFs

Comment and non-Netscape application blocks are removed while frames, timing, and looping stay untouched.

Videos

MP4, WebM, and MOV clips are remuxed without re-encoding, which strips container and stream metadata.

See what a file was carrying before you share it

A photo can carry the camera model, the editing software, and often the GPS coordinates where it was taken. The tool lists what it found in each file, shows the size before and after, and offers a cleaned copy to download.

Removing metadata is not the same as removing everything identifying: the picture itself, and for video the encoded stream, are unchanged. Re-encoding an image also means the cleaned copy is a new compression of the original.
